What would you do if you met a Healthier you?

These ads are on in Australia at the moment. They show people meeting healthier versions of themselves. They always make me think, and make me a little sad. I don't know what I'd do if I met a healthier me, and to be honest I don't think I even know what a healthier me looks like. I don't even know where to start thinking about what a healthier me really entails. Maybe a little weight gain, maybe a little muscle, but I don't know. Will I ever find a healthier me? What if I just keep 'managing' my eating disorder, and never find what a healthier me would be like? Do I even want to find a healthier me?

What do you guys think? What would you do if you met a healthier version of yourself?

(P.S, I'm not advertising, I swear! lol)

  1. The premise of the ad is misleading; it assumes that health is physical, when in reality it is mental as well. It isn't about what you look like, it's about how you feel.

  2. True, but I don't deny my weight is unhealthy, and I would look different if my body was more healthy. (not necessarily talking BMI here, and I have no idea what weight 'healthy' entails, but I know that my health suffers partially due to my low weight)

    1. Well that much is clear. Our bodies often do reflect our state of mind, though not always. I hope one day health will come to you in both respects.

    2. Thanks. I do definitely agree, though. I just don't really believe I'll ever really be okay, you know? The worst part is that I can't get psych help for any of the other stuff like anxiety and PTSD until I've gotten help for my ED, and I need to gain weight before I can do that (sorry - short ramble about the system there). Basically I already had a world of problems even before my ED, and I really don't have much faith in being able to be helped with any of them after so long, so a mentally healthier me just seems completely unattainable for me, I think.

  3. But no matter what you're like I'm sure it's always going to be possible to be healthier, those adverts are especially designed to make you feel unhealthy, don't feel too bad because of them. You've already made such a massive step to make yourself healthier.
I don't know what I'd do if I met a healthier version of myself. Probably just be extremely jealous, then feel terrible about myself for the rest of my life, haha.
I hope you're okay and taking care of yourself.
    Much love.
